The Cemetery Project

Currently In Development: 2026

The Cemetery Project is a narrative picture book and community event exploring cemeteries as shared green spaces. The book focuses on the emotional closeness and sense of belonging that sharing space creates in communities, while working to dispel negative representations of cemeteries as fearful or scary, replacing these with positive depictions of connection, equity, and well-being. The event, Storytime at the Cemetery, is an interactive reading on the cemetery grounds, followed by a hands-on workshop for participants to explore the playful possibilities of these beautiful green spaces in their neighborhood. Through art and education, we invite the surrounding community to imagine new ways we can respectfully engage with the hundreds of acres of cemeteries in Queens.

In collaboration with J. Albert Mann.
